Welcome to Cultural Survival’s Legacy Giving Program
A planned gift of any amount is a powerful way to help sustain this vital work for future generations.
Indigenous wisdom teaches that for every action we take, we should consider its impact on seven generations forward. By including Cultural Survival in your estate plans, your gift can have a lasting impact. Since 1972, Cultural Survival has worked in partnership with Indigenous Peoples to defend their rights and support their self-determination, cultures, and political resilience. We work towards a future that respects and honors Indigenous Peoples' inherent rights and dynamic cultures, deeply and richly interwoven in lands, languages, spiritual traditions, and artistic expression, rooted in self-determination and self-governance.
A planned gift of any amount is a powerful way to help sustain this vital work for future generations.
Your legacy can help advance our programs in areas such as women and youth empowerment, climate change solutions, lands and livelihoods, language revitalization, and community media. With your support, Cultural Survival continues to amplify Indigenous voices, uphold collective rights, and ensure that communities have the tools and resources to shape their own futures.
Meet two members of our Legacy Society: Jerry and Janet Regier, Cambridge, MA
"The question of one's legacy is not fundamentally about money but about commitment to a world, including those who dwell therein. Numerous worlds of Indigenous peoples are currently being forcibly subjected to unsolicited political domination, and dynamic ways of life forged over centuries are thereby being threatened. For several decades, we have donated to Cultural Survival because this organization, now largely Indigenous itself, provides tools -- both political and material -- to combat cultural domination by outsiders. The CS staff are exceptional stewards of our donations. Their goals target important projects, like local Indigenous radio broadcasting and support of women as leaders in their communities. The CS staff are there to assist Indigenous communities as these communities themselves decide how to deal with change. Our commitment to CS is ongoing, not simply because other worlds make our own world richer, but more importantly, because these other worlds deserve to exist at least as much as our own.”

A Gift in Your Will or Living Trust
A gift in your will or living trust is one of the most effective ways to provide for the future of Cultural Survival. You may name Cultural Survival for a percentage of your residual estate (what remains after specific bequests and expenses are paid), a stated dollar amount or a specific asset such as securities or other marketable property.
Some suggested wording is provided below.

Unrestricted gifts allow us to use your donation where it is most needed.

Thank you
To all of our donors and supporters, we share this message of thanks received from Quilombola leader Angela Souza, after an effective week of advocacy at the OECD on behalf of her community in Brazil:

“To Cultural Survival, dear partners in struggles and joys, thank you for the laughter and challenges we shared, thank you for your support and many displays of care. I am grateful for the opportunities we shared. May we make this trench of struggles lighter, may we love ourselves first and always, so that we will be able to love others. Take care of yourself, take care of the path you have taken or the one that is yet to come. Let us choose to stand alongside the most affected in order to make a difference. And if misfortune arises, may it add to our ability to overcome challenges and increase our faith. Thank you for making us better and happier, and for embracing our valley with such dedication. No words can describe such gratitude.”
