En el estado de Oaxaca, “la tierra donde Dios nunca muere”, como le nombran sus habitantes, es el lugar donde nace y se mantiene la mayor diversidad cultural y lingüística del país, así como también ha sido un lugar en el que las artesanas se vieron afectadas fuertemente de manera económica al cerrar complementamente sus negocios en el centro histórico de la capital, debido a la crisis de la pandemia del Covid-19.
